Kathy Crippen recently retired after 32 years of teaching, 30 of those years were in Centerville City schools. Throughout her career she taught grades 1-12, with a focus on grades 1-5 as an Intervention Specialist. Kathy's career highlight was teaching students with learning challenges. She believes understanding each child's learning style and helping them progress is the greatest accomplishment.
Throughout the course of her career, Kathy earned the Excellence in Education Award, piloted several instructional resources for teaching, mentored many colleagues and consistently showed progress and learning with her students on district and state assessments.

Kathy and her husband Phil have been married for 36 years. They have three grown children: Bridget, Conor, and Jack.
Bridget is a clinical psychologist focused on the important topics of perinatal and maternal mental health. Bridget and her amazing husband, Charley, have two children who are the light of Kathy and Phil’s world.
Conor, who overcame a severe traumatic brain injury, works at Trader Joe’s and publicly speaks about his experience, focusing on hope and the road less traveled.
Jack has a master's degree in Hospital Administration and works to ensure medical centers have the critical supplies needed for patients.
